The Newcomers to Notes program came about as a way for kids who grew up learning and loving music to share that experience with others who may not have had the same opportunities.

As the Marketing Assistant who has only been working remotely for BC Newcomer Camp, I wasn’t able to see our direct impact until participating in our Summer Camps. I was finally able to experience the smiles and laughter of our newcomer refugee participants firsthand.

Coming from an immigrant family, I understood how hard it was for newcomers to learn English and quickly adjust to a new life in Canada. In this Marketing Assistant opportunity, I was able to find my voice as a designer that aligned with my background and values.
